Documenting the Documenter. Piecing together the history of Polish Holocaust survivor-historian Luba Melchior

New post on the EHRI Document Blog follows Polish Holocaust survivor and researcher Luba Melchior at the Polish Research Institute (PIZ) in Lund, Sweden, between 1945 and 1946. Almost immediately after her arrival in Sweden on 28 April 1945, Luba Melchior began collecting evidence and testimonies of other Polish survivors of Nazi persecution. However, she did not leave her own testimony or any deliberate personal account of her life and experiences before, during, after the Second World War and the Holocaust. This paper attempts to piece together the story of this documentary filmmaker, both as a Holocaust survivor and as a historian.
