Documentary: T. G. M. in Wallachia. Part I (Chvalčov and Bystřice pod Hostýnem)

The short documentary film "T. G. M. in Wallachia" was made on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Czechoslovak Republic in 1918.

T. G. Masaryk played a key role in the process towards the autonomy of our nation and it is widely known that he served as the first President of the Czechoslovak Republic from 1918 to 1935. Far less well known is the context that preceded his journey to Prague Castle. Hence the impulse of the authors to map the period of Masaryk's activity at the time of his candidacy for the Reichstag in 1907 and 1911. As a candidate for the Wallachian region, he had a close relationship to this place. He resided not only in Bystřice pod Hostýnem, but also in Chvalčov Lhota in house no. 401, where a memorial plaque was placed in his honour in 1923.

Under the auspices of the municipality of Chvalčov and the Podhostýn micro-region, an amateur, yet unique documentary was created, which completes the view of one of the most important personalities of our history. The film also features the staff of the MÚA AV ČR.
