Monuments and Memory
An important area of professional interest of the Masaryk Institute and the Archives of the CAS is the issue of historical memory. Research focuses on the celebration of holidays and memorial days and traces the formation of identity and loyalty in the Habsburg and post-Habsburg space. Researchers here focus on commemorations from the interwar period in Czechoslovakia, for example through holidays or the personality of T. G. Masaryk, or the changing reception of the founding of Czechoslovakia. The specialised portal In the Footsteps of TGM focuses on places of memory associated with the first Czechoslovak president.
