Literary and Intercultural Relations
One of the themes of research at the Masaryk Institute and the Archives of the CAS is the study of literary and intercultural relations between Czech- and German-language literature and culture, especially at the end of the Habsburg Monarchy, but also during the period of the First Czechoslovak Republic. Attention is paid to cultural transfers and their social and ideological prerequisites; research focuses, among other things, on the often forgotten mediators, translators and translators working in the various literary centres (Prague, Vienna, Berlin, Munich, etc.) as well as on the periodicals, associations and urban spaces in which cultural exchange took place.
